About us

Restoring dignity. Rebuilding hope.

Yaknan Humanitarian Foundation is a humanitarian and community-development organization committed to supporting vulnerable people, empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

Founder of Yaknan Humanitarian Foundation

Our story

Born out of a deeply personal experience.

Growing up was not always easy. There were challenges, limitations and difficult moments that taught our founder what it feels like to struggle, to have a need and to wish that someone would step forward to help.

Those experiences stayed with him. But rather than allowing them to define him, they planted a promise in his heart: if he ever had the opportunity, he would use part of his life to make things better for someone else. That promise became the inspiration behind Yaknan Humanitarian Foundation.

The Foundation was created from a desire to turn personal experiences of hardship into opportunities for others. We believe that no one should be defined by poverty, disability, age, lack of opportunity or the circumstances they were born into.

Our work is about more than providing temporary assistance. It is about restoring dignity, rebuilding hope and creating opportunities that give people a better chance at life.

Who we are

Relief today. Empowerment for tomorrow.

We believe that humanitarian work should go beyond giving relief. Sometimes people need immediate help, but they may also need the skills, education, healthcare, support or opportunity to become more independent.

For this reason, our work brings together humanitarian assistance and long-term empowerment. We meet people where they are, respond to real needs and, where possible, help create a path towards stability and self-reliance.

Our Vision

To build a society where every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to live with dignity, hope and purpose.

Our Mission

To restore dignity, rebuild hope and create sustainable opportunities for vulnerable individuals and underserved communities through humanitarian assistance, education, healthcare, skills development, empowerment and community-based initiatives.

What We Believe

Poverty is not only about a lack of money. It can also mean limited access to education, healthcare, skills, opportunity, security and support. That is why we look at the person, not just the problem.

"The circumstances a person is born into should not determine the future they are able to achieve."

From relief to empowerment

Help for today. A path for tomorrow.

One of the principles that guides us is understanding the difference between helping someone through a difficult moment and helping them build a better future.

A food donation may feed a family today.

A vocational training programme may help someone earn an income for years.

A scholarship may change the direction of a child's life.

Support for a small business may help a family become financially independent.

Care and companionship may restore dignity to an elderly person who spent a lifetime caring for others.

Relief

when people need relief.

Opportunity

when people need opportunity.

Empowerment

when people are ready to build a better future.

Our core values

What guides our work.

Human Dignity

Every person deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their circumstances.

Compassion

We serve with genuine concern for the wellbeing of others.

Integrity

We are committed to honesty and responsible stewardship of every resource entrusted to us.

Accountability

Our work should be transparent, showing how resources are used and the difference they make.

Inclusiveness

Everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, contribute and be supported without discrimination.

Empowerment

Where possible, we help people build the confidence, skills and opportunities to become self-reliant.

Service

We believe that true leadership is rooted in service to others.

Sustainability

We seek solutions that create lasting benefits rather than temporary change alone.

A message from the founder

"My childhood was difficult, but those experiences taught me something important: there are many people in our communities who simply need someone to believe in them.

I made a promise to myself that if I ever had the opportunity, I would use it to make a difference. Yaknan Humanitarian Foundation is part of that promise.

I may not be able to solve every problem, but if we help one person, empower one young person, support one family, care for one elderly person or give one child an opportunity to learn, we have already begun to make a difference.

My dream is to start from my community, extend that impact across my State and, ultimately, contribute to building a better Nigeria. This Foundation is not only about what we can give. It is about what we can build together."

"Because I experienced difficult times growing up, I will do my best to ensure that someone else does not have to face life's difficulties without hope, support or opportunity."

Our founder's promise

Our commitment to Nigeria

We want to start where the need is visible, build strong relationships within those communities and gradually expand our impact across the State and, ultimately, across Nigeria.

Lasting impact cannot be achieved alone. We hope to build meaningful partnerships with individuals, philanthropists, businesses, government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, professionals and volunteers who share our belief in the power of service.

Our long-term dream

Our dream is for Yaknan Humanitarian Foundation to become a trusted humanitarian institution known for practical service, responsible leadership and measurable impact.

As the Foundation grows, we hope to establish empowerment centres, skills-acquisition programmes, educational initiatives, healthcare outreaches and dedicated care programmes for older people. Our ambition is not simply to be known for giving. We want to be known for changing lives.
